I went ahead and opened it up last night...
Evening pool temperature was 86 degrees, so it's quite comfortable. I'm not entirely sure that the chlorinator is working properly, so I'll be keeping a close eye on that.

Pool Reopening Tuesday
The pool is set to reopen tomorrow. Sorry for the long delay, but I (and others) replaced the pump as quickly as we could.
If you guys see Max around the neighborhood, make sure to tell him a big thank you for working on the pump nearly all day Friday (I had worked on it until the wee hours of the morning on Thursday night, and couldn't quite get it done). Without Max, this would have taken me a lot longer to troubleshoot.
The water will be a lot cooler than what it was; I would expect that evening swims will be pretty chilly when you get out of the pool ;)
Anyway, hopefully folks will get a little enjoyment out of the pool before we have to close it for the season.

Pump replacement tonight
I *think* that we have all of the parts necessary to replace the pump now. I plan to work on it tonight, and if all goes well, the pump will be running by tomorrow; that's the most optimistic assessment anyway. Usually something does go wrong though, so stand by.

Still Closed, no pump yet.
The pool, unfortunately, is still closed. In case you didn't know, the pump died on Monday, and we are in the process of ordering/installing a new one.
Please let everyone know that as long as the "Pool Closed" sign is up (hopefully no one has torn it down...the pool has been treated quite badly by certain residents this summer), that the water is *not* sanitary to swim in. No circulation == no chlorine == bacteria, with algae not far behind. After we get the pump installed, it will probably take a couple of days to clear the water back up.
We had hoped to get the pump installed today, but a part needed to connect the pump to the system was missing.

Pump Update: Pool Still Closed
Greg Headrick has ordered a new pump, and it should be in tomorrow. So, if everything goes perfectly (standard disclaimer), we should have the new pump installed tomorrow evening.
After that, it might take a couple of days to get the water back in shape.
DO NOT swim in the pool right now; the levels of chlorine have dropped to almost nil (due to no water circulation through the chlorinator), and the water is therefore unclean to swim in.

Pool Closed
Unfortunately, the pump finally gave up last night (it was smoking yesterday evening, and it seized up during the night). So, we are going to have to close the pool until it is fixed and/or replaced.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Tuesday Update
Water is nice and clear, 86 degrees in the morning.
There will be a large pool party this evening in the gazebo, so be forewarned.
